Aims of the course:The aim of the course is to deepen skills and knowledge in the methodology of social research, focused on the following topics: research problem, research questions, data collection techniques, data analysis. Emphasis will also be put on the formation of literature review, as well as on the consistency of all chapters that should form a coherent and logically built unit. The course is divided into lectures and seminars, which practice the gained knowledge.
Course contents:
1.Social analysis. Methods of social analysis. (allowance 2/4)
 
a.geografic data analysis, analysis of atribute data
b.questionnaire, interviews, analysis of social networks, focus groups
c.selected methods of data analysis, software SPSS

2.Social diversity in organisation and in region. (allowance 2/4)
 
a.Terminology, definition, diversity on individual, team, organisational, and regional level.
b.Measures of diversity.
c.Diversity management and leadership.

3.Specifics of intercultural leadership at organisational and regional level. (allowance 2/4)
 
a.Migrants working in foreign country: expatriots, braindrain, braingain.
b.leading of organisation and region in context of different cultures: Geert Hofstede (2005, 2007), Fons Trompenaars (1998)
c.project Global Leadership and Organizational Behavior Effectiveness (GLOBE).

4.Social analysis at organisational and regional level with respect to gender and age structure. (allowance 4/8)
 
a.Gender management a leadership in Czech and regional context,
life strategies of men and women, situation of women on the labour market, barriers of professional and carrier development
b.gender stereotypes, intersectionality, gender quotes, equal opportunities,gender pay gap, mentoring
c.age management and leadership. Terminology, theoretical approaches, research in the area of age management, myths of older employees, different generations of employees, perspectives of age management, employment of people over 50, eight pillars of age management and leadership,
d.aplication an implementation of age management and leadership in practice, WAI index.

5.Practical application of social analysis in the region and company, critical evaluation of projects. (allowance 2/4)
 
a.case studies regarding social analysis
b.best practices from organisations and regions
c.analysis and discussion regarding practical projects

Work placement:There is no compulsory work placement in the course unit.

Assessment methods:Students have to finalise and present an essay, evaluation max. 60 points. The course is finished by a written exam, evaluation max. 40 points, min. 24 points (60%). To fulfill the requirements for the whole course, students need at least 58 points from both parts.
