Aims of the course:Student will be able to extend the natural quality of cut flowers and cut green based on gained knowledge from post-harvest physiology of cut flowers, dilapidation flowers and microbiological processes after harvest by right technological operations. The student will obtain information about good practices in storage, shipment and sale, the principles of treatment and care of flowers in a vase.
Course contents:
1.Signification of cut flowers, types, production in our country and the world, floral bursa (allowance 4/0)
2.Basic concepts, characteristics of cut flowers, quality indicators (allowance 2/0)
3.Post-harvest physiology of cut flowers, causes of destruction, affect of plants integrity deformation, aging of tissues, developmental stages of flowers, microbiological processes after harvest (allowance 4/0)
4.Solutions for flower vitality operating (allowance 2/0)
5.Post-harvest technology, operations sequence, schedule, harvesting, assessment of optimal harvest time and way (allowance 2/0)
6.Postharvest treatment, precooling and storage, cooling rate, optimal temperature and length of the flower keeping quality, adjustment of the storage atmosphere gaseous composition (allowance 2/0)
7.Removal from storage and consumer packaging, expedition, sale, principles of flowers arrengement and treatment in a vas, aesthetic angles (allowance 2/0)
8.Dried cut flowers and green, harvest date, species selection, treatment before drying, principles of drying, dry flowers storage (allowance 2/0)
9.Special post-harvest technology of major cut flowers (allowance 8/0)
