Aims of the course:The aim is to obtain basic knowledge and overview in the implementation of reconstruction, modernization, as well as repair and maintenance facility. Introduce students wi. the terminology, design principles and project design solutions to basic defects and failures of buildings, including principles of charting, applicable regulations and standards.
Course contents:
1.Terminology related to reconstruction of buildings, the life of buildings, the possibility of reconstruction of older buildings, renovation of building sites. (allowance 2/0)
2.Basic construction systems and design principles based on the historic building regulations. (allowance 2/0)
3.Disorders and symptoms of disorders of bearing and non-bearing structure from foundation to roof and maintenance. (allowance 2/2)
4.Design principles for the reconstruction drawings. Projects of reconstruction, adaptation and modernization. Drawings of the existing condition and its evaluation. (allowance 4/1)
5.Technical-economical issues of reconstruction, pre-project preparation and project development. (allowance 2/0)
6.Existing legislation in the Czech Republic, normative environment and related regulations, environmental links. (allowance 2/0)
7.Work on the roof - work practices. Coverings of pitched roofs and its composition over the heated spaces. The selection of roofing. Bearing structures of traditional roof trusses and modern roof trusses for creating lofts in specific conditions. (allowance 2/3)
8.Repair damaged elements of the roof, plumbing and roofing work. Influence of the shape of the roof to the layout solution and arrangement of the space under the roof. (allowance 2/1)
9.Disorders of stair construction and reconstruction. Requirements for stairs, site location, design and selection of suitable type, including material, railing. (allowance 2/1)
10.Repairs and renovation of wooden floors. Ceiling structure above and below the attic rooms, balconies and terraces on the roof. (allowance 2/2)
11.Reconstruction of wooden objects. Implementation of maintenance and protection of wooden structures. (allowance 2/2)
12.Cutting holes in vertical structures, vertical shorting, strut and lifting for reconstructions. Preparatory and ancillary works. Removing of structures. (allowance 2/1)
13.Excursion to buildings with realized reconstruction. (allowance 2/1)

-Basic knowledge of the reconstruction of buildings and wooden constructions
-Knowledge of different plotting and construction norms, legislative foundation for overall design of building object.
-The ability to design and evaluate the basic design of civil engineering in terms of materials, technologies and implementation
-The ability to orient in the building plans
-Theoretical knowledge of tradicional handicrafts and ways of woodworking

Assessment methods:Credit -- 80% participation in seminars.
The elaboration of easy tasks in the lessons. Defence of a seminar work in form of presentation.
1 writen test during the course (the participation is compulsory, maximum points is 20, for credit is necessary to have at least 12 points).
