Aims of the course:The subject Modified Wood for Buildings is focused on properties of modified wood. Student should get knowledge how to change properties of solid wood through hydrothermal treatment, chemical substances, physical fields and mechanical load. Practices are focused on assessment of physical and mechanical properties and changes in wood structure. Very important part of the education is related to application of modified materials for interior and exterior.

1.Introduction to wood modification for buildings (allowance 2/1)
2.Wood drying for buildings (allowance 2/1)
3.Design of drying chambers for buildings and carpentry products (allowance 2/1)
4.How to buy and check new drying chamber (allowance 2/1)
5.Research and development of methods for chemical modification of wood (allowance 2/1)
6.Wood treatment for lowering EMC (allowance 2/1)
7.Wood steaming (allowance 2/1)
8.Influence of ammonia to wood properties (allowance 2/1)
9.BendyWood (allowance 2/1)
10.Wood pressing (VTC) (allowance 2/1)
11.Heat treatment of wood (allowance 2/1)
12.Microwave and plasma treatment of wood (allowance 2/1)
13.Resin and sugar solutions treatment of wood (allowance 2/1)
