Aims of the course:Students are informed about contemporary arboricultural practice through consultation with proffesionals. Main areas of practical tree care are being discussed. Practical presentation is provided within summer field trip.
Course contents:
1.Structure of proffesional arboricultural ogranisations (allowance 2/0)
2.Choice of trees for planting in urban areas (allowance 2/0)
3.Tree planting in urban areas I. - site alteration (allowance 2/0)
4.Tree planting in urban areas II. - planting technology (allowance 2/0)
5.Tree planting in urban areas III. - after-care (allowance 2/0)
6.Tree pruning I. - technique (allowance 2/0)
7.Tree pruning II. - technological groups (allowance 2/0)
8.Tree surgery - treatment of trunk wounds, cavities (allowance 2/0)
9.Tree surgery - crown security systems (allowance 2/0)
10.Tree climbing techniques and their use in arboriculture (allowance 2/0)
11.Use of platforms in tree-care (allowance 2/0)
12.Tree protection on development sites (allowance 2/0)
13.Basic tree diagnostic as a tool for practical tree care (allowance 2/0)
14.Tree care plan based on contemporary tree diagnostic (allowance 2/0)

-Ability to recognize, determine, distinguish and systematize various biotic and abiotic objects
-Abitity to take care for woody plants with respect to their ecophysiological and aestethic characteristics
-Basic knowledge of land records in Czech Republic
-Competences and skills to do the hazard tree assessment
-Knowledge in indigenous and common cultural woody plant species
-Knowledge of laws connected with the urban green
-Knowledge of work with spatial geodata
-Problem solving ability
