Aims of the course:Basic knowledge of surveying with emphasis to application in forestry and landscape, familiarization with survey methods and appartures, with computer data processing, with cadastre and land records and also with new methods as global navigation satellite systems, photogrammetry or laserscanning.
Course contents:
1.Introduction to surveying. (allowance 8/4)
 
a.Introduction, history, divisions.
b.Consecutive disciplines
c.Mathematic cartography, shape and dimension of the Earth - reference planes, cartographic projections.
d.Coordinate systems.
e.Map, plan, map products.

2.Coordinates computing. (allowance 12/4)
 
a.Basic coordinates computing, bearings, polar and orthogonal method.
b.Intersection of directins and lenghts.
c.Polygon calculations.
d.Area from point coordinates.

3.Land surveying. (allowance 4/16)
 
a.Influence of Earth curvature to surveying.
b.Basic simple methods of land measurements.
c.Measurement of vertical and horizantal angles, total stations.
d.Linear measurement - taping, setting out of straight line, perpendicular, surveying chart. Orthogonal method, polar method.
e.Levelling - methods, instruments, accuracy. Geometric leveling from the center, surface leveling.
f.Tacheometry, data processing, contour lines.
g.Modern methods of Earth data collection - global navigation satellite systems, photogrammetry, laserscanning.

4.Cadastre and Land Records. (allowance 4/4)
 
a.History of Land Records in Czech Republic.
b.Cadastre, cadastral maps.

Assessment methods:The course is finished with written test and subsequent oral exam. For Credit you have to accomplish presence and records from practical lessons and from terrain exercise and for exam to receive minimal 65% from 20 questions in test and pass the oral exam (1 question, 10 minutes). Participation on test is compulsory.
