Aims of the course:The aim of the course is, by practical and theoretical teaching, to put students in touch with formation necessary for beekeeping and all particular disciplines of apidology as follows: managment of pollination, migratory beekeeping, honey harvesting and processing, rearing of queens and breeding of honey bee etc. The particular disciplines of apidology are choosen according to study branch.
Course contents:
1.Lectures (allowance 28/0)
a.history and the present of apiculture and its social importance; biology of honey bee; origin and evolution of bees; economicaly important genera and species of bees all over the world; beekeeping; characterization of honey bee products; diseases and enemies of honey bees and their poisoning; elements of genetics and breeding of bees; nutrition of bees; bee as a pollinator of entomophilous crops; rearing and utilization of bumble bees and solitary bees.

2.Seminars (allowance 0/28)
a.nest of the honey bee (stucture of combs); bee hives and their equipments; histology, anatomy,morphology, physiology of honey bee; prevention and tretment of bee diseases; bee plants and migratory beekeeping; rearing of queens; processing of bee products (excursion and laboratory seminar); seminars - free topics on apidology; 6h seminars in academic apiary - manipulation with colonies.

Assessment methods:Compliance with the conditions of a small credit (seminar work and seminar topic presented orally) and an oral examination of up to 30 minutes according to about 100 test questions. It evaluates the accuracy and completeness of answers to the selected theme as well as knowledge related to your topic. The examiner asks questions related to that topic, or only if he is not sure the complexity of the knowledge of the test student. Rating A: The only comprehensive answers without need additional query. Rating B: responses in complex with minor inaccuracies or omissions. Rating C: the need for additional questions to verify the knowledge and possibly some minor inaccuracies and incompleteness. Rating D minor ignorance. Rating E: significant ignorance or incompleteness to the topic and do not help or submission of additional queries. Rating F is applied when a non-response to the question or complete or partial substantial ignorance to the topic.
