Aims of the course:The aim of this course is to inform the students about the role and significance of watercourse in the landscape. The students will gain knowledge about design of channels, regulation, modification and restoration of water flows that can be applied in practice. When elaborating the project assigned "Adaptation of a small watercourse" in AutoCAD the students will use their knowledge and skills acquired in the course Basics of designing.
Course contents:
1.1. Importance of water flows, categorization of small streams (2/0)
2. Bed load regime. Water quality in streams (2/0)
3. Development of small streams. Stream cross profile and path of untreated flow (3/6)
4. Purpose, principles and methods of complex flow adjustments (2/0)
5. Selection and design of cross profile, proposal of path adjustment, design of longitudinal profile and alignment (4/6)
6. Stability of channel slopes and bottom. Cross and longitudinal flow objects. (3/5)
7. Proposal of bunding, levees (2/4)
8. Accompanying vegetation of watercourses (2/3)
9. Revitalization of small streams. Program for Revitalization of River Systems (2/0)
10. Water legislation, water conservation (2/0)
