Aims of the course:Acquiring the desired level of mathematical knowledge and skills and logical thinking. Acquiring the necessary mathematical tools for describing and solving real situation models. Acquisition of mathematical skills needed for applications in professional subjects and the ability to seek additional information from the literature.

1.Linear algebra (allowance 4/4)

c.Systems of linear equations

2.Differential calculus (allowance 8/10)
a.Elementary functions of one variable and their graphs
b.Limit and continuity
c.Derivatives, rules for differentiation, higher-order derivatives
d.Extrema, concavity and inflection points, asymptotes, applications

3.Integral calculus (allowance 8/6)
a.Indefinite integral
b.Techniques of integration
c.Definite integral
d.Applications of integrals

4.Function approximation by polynomials (allowance 4/4)
a.Taylor polynomial
b.Lagrange interpolation formula
c.Method of least squares
d.Solutions of algebraic equations

Learning outcomes and competences:
Generic competences:
-ability to analyse and synthesize

Specific competences:
-Ability to construct a logical argument.
-Capacity for abstract thinking.
-Competence to construct and to work with an exact logical argument.
-Knowledge of basic mathematical method required for mathematical models creation of real situations
-Knowledge of linear algebra, differential and integral calculus sufficient to understand and use technical literature which uses these areas.

Assessment methods:The credit is compulsory for the final exam participation (2 tests, maximum 10 points each, tests will be written in 7th and 12th week of the semester, for credit it is necessary to receive totally at least 10 of 20 points, i.e., 50%).
The course is completed by an exam including both theory and its application to specific examples. The exam is written (it is necessary to receive at least 30 of 60 points, i.e., 50%).
