Aims of the course:Obtain basic knowledge of general entomology and recognize negative and positive functions of insects, mites and nematodes in agroecosystems. Can use this knowledge in the determination and evaluation of important species of insects in agriculture and competently assess their importance.

2.Morphology, anatomy and physiology of insects (allowance 6/2)
 
a.External morphology (segmentation, integument, head, thorax, abdomen)
b.Internal morphology and functions

3.Reproduction and development of insects (allowance 4/2)
 
a.Embryogenesis
b.Postembryonic development
c.Insect developmental cycle
d.Insect dormance

4.Ecology of insects (allowance 8/0)
 
a.Characters of insects populations
b.Insecta and abiotic environmental factors
c.Insecta and plants
d.Natural abundance regulation

5.Systematic review of important taxa in agriculture (allowance 8/24)

-Ability to assess the importance of harmful organism in agrocoenosis
-Competences to decide on the need to control unwanted insects

-Skills of determination of insect species in consultancy

Assessment methods:In order to obtain compensation, participation in compulsory exercises. Cognitive test of agriculturally important species. To obtain the credits is required at least 75% of correct answers.
