Aims of the course:The aim is to consolidate the acquired knowledge and improvement in all skills, ie mainly in the field of communication / understanding and ability to respond in English / and in writing. The course is based on the use of modern methods to enhance the main focus of language skills and competencies - primarily strategic, pragmatic and produktivní.Students will write three 60 min.tests during the semester. The maximum score is 50 points, a total score of 150 points. To get the credit you need to get at least 100 points. Tests will be written in the 5, 8, and 11 week.Participation in the tests is mandatory
Course contents:
1.Curriculum I English language - General English Speaking Oral presentation: • student's personality • family • native town/village • native country • university/application form, job interviews, summer jobs,Revision of the subject matter (allowance 0/2)
 
a.Presentation skills - University and future career.

2.Topic: Picture yourself-self portraits,Listening for gist, listening for specific information, listening for general information (allowance 0/2)
 
a.Listening analysis - listening to authentic sources - (BBC, CNN)
b.typical errors and their corrections

3.Topic: Leisure and entertainment, Structured CV, paragraph, essay writing, e-mailing, filling in a form (allowance 0/2)
 
a.Academic writing according to syllabus.

4.Grammar revision: - word order of statements, question, scope of negation,imperative, tenses, modal verbs, passives, adjectives, phrasal verbs, clauses -relative, time purpose, Office knowledge - testing from the last term. (allowance 0/2)
 
a.Grammar practice according to syllabus

5.This curriculum is just an orientation survey of topics, skills, grammar areas mandatory for the course of General English. Each lecturer will work up their own sylabus which will contain particular topics, grammar and skills in the order and extent corresponding to their needs. All syllabi will be then consulted with the Head of the Department of Language and Cultural Studies.
