Profile of the programme:Master's degree in phytotechnics (phytotechnology) focuses on the development of theoretical knowledge in the areas of plant production processes, regulation/controlling of harmful agents, processing and quality evaluation of herbal products, and their use in food, chemical, pharmaceutical and other industries. Understanding the fundamental processes and how they might be regulated is the basis for managing all businesses engaged in farming, processing of products grown in other related industries, and it is also a prerequisite for production of quality food.
Key learning outcomes: Graduates have professional skills in technologies of growing, genetic improvement of plants and skills connected with certification of seed and planting even in international trade.
They know how to use new technologies in soil management (GNSS – Global Navigation Satellite Systems, GIS – Geographic Information Systems, RS – Remote Sensing, VRA – Variable rate application) and related technical activities.
Graduates are competent to draft out a plan of plant protection and nutrition as well as fertilization of field crops while adhering to effective utilization of agrochemicals and reduction of their influence on the environment.
Graduates are able to design systems of plant production for specific soil-climatic conditions within the framework of adhering to the rules of crop rotation and the principles of sustainable soil management.
Graduates have knowledge of plant growing for special purposes facilitating the increase of the functional biodiversity of agro systems.
They have knowledge of the impact of pratotechnique on the quality of grass forage stands and their integration into the land.
They have information on utilization of minimizing soil processing technologies in consideration of yield formation, economy and soil protection.
Graduates know the principles of correct processing of experimental data, usage of biometrical methods for data evaluation and results interpretation.
Occupational profile:The graduates are able to work in managing positions in companies dealing with agricultural primary production, processing, distributing and selling agricultural commodities, and also companies offering consulting, services and plant cultivation and protection.
Graduation requirements:Min. 120 ECTS, state final exam, defence of the master's thesis.
Access to further studies:Successful graduates may proceed to doctoral study programme.
