Aims of the course:This course contains a basic overview of selected information and communications technologies and systems for the use in business practice and builds on the basic information gained in the courses Informatics and algorithmization and Informatics for Economists I. Students will acquire skills in working with information, methods of processing information of various types, compression and archivation of information, in data and file formats, secure information against unauthorized processing, the application areas of web systems, database systems, methods and possibilities of implementation of enterprise information systems. The course develops skills in the applications of appropriate information technology in business practice.

4.Database systems (allowance 4/4)
a.Principles of dabase systems
b.Work with database server, SQL language

5.Introduction into information systems (allowance 2/0)

Work placement:There is no compulsory work placement in the course unit.

Assessment methods:The course is completed by the final test realized by eLearning subsystem of UIS. Duration of the test is 60 minutes. Questions of test are randomly generated from all the basic areas of the course. Guessing correction is applied in the test, success is evaluated by computer. To pass the test is required to obtain at least 50% points.

The test follows the oral exam where the student demonstrates an understanding of context and especially the links between topics. The oral part works with the previous test, the student has the opportunity to explain test answers. The final grade is determined as the total valuation of knowledge and proven ability in test and oral exam.
