Aims of the course:The aim is to gain knowledge and practical skills in measuring and testing parameters of motor vehicles. The emphasis is on practical exercises and the ability to flexibly access the various measuring tasks.
Course contents:
1.Processes of measurement, data analysis, errors of measurement (allowance 2/4)
a.Definition of measurement.
b.Instrumentation of measurement.
c.Errors of measurement determination.
d.Data analysis, processing, graphs and charts in technical presentations.

2.Methods of measurement of physical quantities relevant to the testing of vehicles (allowance 4/4)
a.Basic principles of measurement.
b.Sensors used in testing.
c.Negative effects in testing (vibration, sound noise)

3.Vehicle chassis testing (allowance 4/4)
a.Axles testing.
b.Methods of measurement of suspension and steering
c.Brake tests.
d.Testing procedures of electronic brake systems.

4.Drive characteristics (allowance 2/6)
a.Drive restistances.
b.Measurement of drive limits - slip etc.
c.Drive model and its validation.

5.Test beds used for powertrain testing (allowance 4/8)
a.Engine characteristics.
b.Methods of measurement, steady, dynamic, tranzient.
c.Engine dynamometers.
d.Chassis dynamometers.

6.Transmission testing (allowance 2/2)
a.Control processes of transmission testing.
b.Methods of testing of traction systems.
c.Tire testing.

7.Safety and comfort systems testing (allowance 4/2)
a.Testing of passive safety.
b.Crash tests, procedures and evaluation.
c.Testing of comfort system, lighting.

8.Simulation and virtual instrumentation (allowance 2/4)
a.Simulation of vehicle systems and true response.
b.Virtual instrumentation.
c.Introduction into LabVIEW.

Learning outcomes and competences:
Generic competences:

Assessment methods:To meet the requirements for credit is needed participation at seminars, completion of the interim written tests of 80%, and preparing two semester projects. The exam is in written form (60 minutes), where the student has to solve an example related to vehicle testing, as well as to answer questions from at least 60%. Next step in examination procedures is oral.
