Aims of the course:The goal of the subject is to develop students' language skills and knowledge at the B2 level, bringing into focus business vocabulary and correspondence. Students will acquire and deepen knowledge of advanced grammatical structures, key business vocabulary and different types of business correspondence and their content and formal aspects.

Generic competences:

Specific competences:
-Student can actively apply acquired knowledge of grammar and business vocabulary in both written and oral communication.
-Student can describe formal and informal correspondence styles and knows vocabulary typical of the styles.
-Student has deepened and extended knowledge of advanced grammatical structures and vocabulary related to the business field.
-Student is able to distinguish formal and informal correspondence styles and choose adequate vocabulary typical of the styles.
-Student is able to write a structured formal letter and apply knowledge of vocabulary typical of formal style.
-Student is familiar with different types of business correspondence and masters their content and formal aspects.

Assessment methods:Completion of the subject is conditioned by two midterm tests, mandatory attendance, a credit test and an oral exam. In each midterm test consisting of 25 questions (submitted within the time limit of 20 minutes) students can gain a maximum of +5 points, a minimum of - 5 points. Points are added to the final credit test score. The credit test consisting of 50 questions is taken in an electronic form, the time limit is 40 minutes, students can earn from 0 up to 50 points. The oral exam is based on a discussion and picture description related to the given topics, duration of the exam is 15 minutes. Students have a dictionary at their disposal during the preparation time. The duration of the preparation is 15 minutes. The overall language skills are tested (range of vocabulary, accuracy, fluency, pronunciation). The minimum required level to pass the exam parts is 60%. The final score is the average score of the credit test and oral exam. The range of assessment points is as follows:100-93 points=A, 92-85=B, 84-77=C, 76-69=D, 68-60=E, 59 and fewer=F.
