Profile of the programme:This study program focuses on technology of material and energy recovery in waste treatment, and if need be on technology of waste disposal. The basis of the study is to develop and deepen the knowledge of the disciplines that form the theoretical foundation of the field and most importantly of the specialized discipline, which forms the basis for the students to assert themselves in the field of waste management.
 
Key learning outcomes: Graduates are competent to manage and operate the processes of technologies used in waste management, landfilling, municipal waste treatment and recycling, waste prevention, implementation of environmental management and cleaner production at all sectors of the economy and in the municipal sector.
Students gain professional knowledge and competence in related areas such as laboratory measurement techniques for waste management, thermal utilization of waste and biomass, waste water treatment technologies, technological equipment for constructions of waste management.
The graduate has the knowledge and skills of practical application of legislation of waste management and coherent legislation of the protection of air, water, soil, landscape and environment.
The graduate is a competent person for the planning and systematic design of waste management technologies.
The graduate is competent to act as Waste manager in accordance with applicable laws.
 
Occupational profile:The graduates are able to find their jobs in the entrepreneurial sphere as managerial workers holding an office of a "Waste Manager" according to the Act on Wastes. They are able to find work in the public administration and in advisory and consultancy companies.
Graduation requirements:Min. 180 ECTS, state final exam, defence of the bachelor thesis.
Access to further studies:Successful graduates may proceed to master's study programme.
