Profile of the programme:The study of Phytotechnology is based on a long tradition dating back to the beginnings of the higher agricultural education in Czech Republic and Brno in particular. Societal need for graduates of bachelor's program will be mainly in the primary production in the field of plant breeding, agricultural supplies and purchases, and agricultural services, where they can assert themselves as a middle and senior management. The same applies to processing plants, agricultural research, breeding and seed production, testing, seed distributing companies, seed stock, agrochemicals and machinery.
 
Key learning outcomes: Graduates in the program of plant production will have basic knowledge of plant morphology, anatomy and physiology.
The students will gain practical knowledge and skills in the fields of biology, technology, ecology and economics, which are necessary for use of modern technologies in plant production.
Graduates will be able to analyze and control processes affecting plant growth and development, as well as the yield and quality of production.
Graduates will be able to choose the seed and seedlings for growing specific types and varieties of crops to be used in production.
The students gain decision-making competency for different types of farming on agricultural land respecting requirements for sustainable farming.
They will be able to operate plant growth technologies of important crops with respect to the quality of production intended for different uses.
Graduates will be able to solve the problems dealing with issues of chemical treatment, storage and usage of plant products.
Graduates will be able to do experiments according to good experimentation praxis, to use statistical methods, and correctly interpret the results.
They gain professional skills in utilizing IT and information systems in achieving higher efficiency in the activities connected with their job.
Graduates will also learn good seed praxis.
 
Occupational profile:The graduates are oriented above all at providing the plant production of both common and special plants in agricultural primary production. They are able to do managerial jobs in agricultural primary production and in subsequent businesses; and in state administration, too. There is also a possibility for them to acquire the certification for advisory services in agriculture.
Graduation requirements:Min. 180 ECTS, state final exam, defence of the bachelor thesis.
Access to further studies:Successful graduates may proceed to master's study programme.
