Profile of the programme:Students will gain knowledge in all major areas of agricultural crop health (research and) management, including stored products management. They will become familiar with wide range of economy threatening and potentially dangerous pathogens, pests and weeds which infest important field and horticultural crops, and their characteristics, properties, and the ways in which they influence the yield and quality of products and their health. Graduates will be able to perform accurate detection and determination of pathogens, pests and weeds by modern diagnostic methods, they will be able to decide on an effective and efficient use of methods of integrated pest management, and to assess plant health issues in terms of their impact on animal and human health.
 
Key learning outcomes: The graduates have ability to know the basic chemical processes in living organisms.
The graduates have ability of performing diagnostics and determination of pathogens, pest and weeds, including laboratory methods.
The graduates have ability to assess the importance of harmful organisms in field and garden crops and in storage.
The graduates have ability of using integrated pest, disease and weed management methods.
The graduates have ability to analyze and rationally influence yield forming processes of main field crops in order to achieve quality and profitable production.
 
Occupational profile:The graduates acquire a complete set of knowledge and practical skills that are necessary to do jobs in state administration, institutions and agricultural companies and services, in companies that deal with the development and distribution of plant protection agents, including the requirements for professional competence to run a business in the field of plant protection.
Graduation requirements:Min. 180 ECTS, state final exam, defence of the bachelor thesis.
