Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning:There are no specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning. Profile of the programme:The aim of study is to obtain (acquire) detailed knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry and physiology of plants, from the single-cell level through tissues and organs to (the) entire organism(s). Attention is also given to other organisms that affect plants. Much emphasis is laid on effective practical application of the obtained theoretical knowledge, particularly in biotechnology of plants (plant biotechnology). Graduates will also be equipped with the knowledge necessary to enable effective team management. Teaching is provided by staff from Mendel University's Faculty of Agronomy, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, and Faculty of Business and Economics, Masaryk University's Faculty of Science, and the Institute of Biophysics of Academy of Sciences of Czech Republic (ASCR).
 
Key learning outcomes: The graduates have detailed knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry and plant physiology, including cells, tissues and the organism as a whole.
The graduates are able to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical activities, especially in the field of plant biotechnology.
The graduates are equipped with knowledge that enables them to manage a working team effectively.
 
Occupational profile:The graduates work especially at positions dealing with plant biotechnologies, i.e. in scientific and research institutes, and also at specialised positions, such as in gene banks. The graduates are also able to find jobs in the area of gene pool maintenance and improvement. As they are experienced in using the state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, they are able to find jobs both in virtually any laboratory and in the state administration.
Graduation requirements:Min. 120 ECTS, state final exam, defence of the master's thesis.
Access to further studies:Successful graduates may proceed to doctoral study programme.

To obtain 60 ECTS credits per academic year, students should choose courses from any other study programme taught at the university.
